As part of the Import Substitution Program, Transneft Synthesis runs a 100% domestic production of drag-reducing agents. DRA are used for improving the throughput capacity of pipelines and reducing the working pressure during hydrocarbons’ transportation.
For this to happen, a proprietary technology has been developed, patented and implemented in Russia. As a result, a full-cycle production line, unrivaled on the national scale, has been brought into operation, and is now offering chemicals that have a strategic importance for the pipeline industry.
Drag reducing agents (DRA) for oil and petroleum products produced by Transneft Synthesis include PT FLYDE in a jacketed glass reactor, equipped with a coil condenser and a dropping funnel. The DRA reduce hydraulic pressure loss and increase pipeline throughput. Using the DRA helps, therefore, increase the pipeline’s energy efficiency and reduce transportation costs. The working principle of the product is based on polymer macromolecules reducing the turbulent pulsation in the flow.
